AmpUp announces new partnerships + a low income assistance program for EV charging
Accelerating Our Clean Energy Partnerships 🙌
AmpUp is proud to be a new member of Greentown Labs, CALSTART, & Clean Fuels Ohio! We share these organizations’ values of bringing clean transportation to all, and commend their leadership in the broader transportation and energy space. We can't wait to further these initiatives with the teams & fellow members.
Greentown Labs - the largest climate tech startup incubator in North America. Greentown Labs’ member startups, corporate partners, and policymakers come together to power climate innovations.
CALSTART - nonprofit organization working nationally and internationally with businesses and governments to develop clean and efficient transportation solutions.
Clean Fuels Ohio - national Clean Cities Coalition that works to support energy and economic security through partnerships that advance affordable, efficient, and environmentally beneficial domestic transportation fuels, technologies, and mobility systems.
Low Income Assistance for EV charging ✅
Access to clean energy and technology should be shared by all, regardless of income. Important federal legislation introduced to the U.S. House of Representatives by Congresswoman Yvette D. Clark from New York and to the U.S. Senate by Congresswoman Catherine Cortez Masto of Nevada addresses inequality faced by disadvantaged communities in accessing clean energy. The Electric Vehicles for Underserved Communities Act of 2021, if passed, would create the Electric Vehicle Charging Equity Program and would direct the Department of Energy to support the deployment of 200,000 electric vehicle charging stations in disadvantaged communities over the next decade.
AmpUp has sent letters of support for the proposed bill as well as launched a Low Income Assistance Program earlier this year. For site hosts that want to install EV charging stations in low income areas AmpUp will waive fees where the average energy burden, as a percentage of income, is greater than 5%. The program is open to the first 100 applicants on a first-come first-serve basis.
Leveraging AmpUp’s existing smart charging network and solutions, we hope to grow our program to incorporate marginalized communities who struggle with environmental injustices, lack of access to political participation, and other challenges to infrastructure and clean energy equality. Interested participants can learn more from this downloadable flyer or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
