Supporting Local Clean Fuel Organization, Everywhere 💚
AmpUp is proud to be a new member of Drive Electric Tennessee, Clean Fuels Michigan, and Yellowstone-Teton Clean Cities! We share these organizations’ values of bringing clean transportation to their local communities, and commend their leadership in the broader transportation and energy industry.
Drive Electric Tennessee - DriveElectricTN is a statewide electric transportation initiative focused on the economic development of communities, the social and environmental benefits of EVs, prioritizing cost-effectiveness, and fostering technological innovation. This program is made up of passionate individuals and organizations all over Tennessee working towards the same goal of seeing 200,000 electric vehicles on Tennessee's roadways by the year 2028. The program's current priorities include driving infrastructure development, shaping policy, electric vehicle outreach and awareness, and creating availability for all Tennesseans.
Clean Fuels Michigan - Clean Fuels MI is focused on accelerating the transition to clean transportation in Michigan. They advocate for the suite of alternative fuels including biofuels, hydrogen, propane, natural gas, and electric vehicles.
Yellowstone-Teton Clean Cities - Yellowstone-Teton Clean Cities (YTCC’s) mission is to displace the use of petroleum in the regional transportation sector, improve air quality through reduced harmful exhaust emissions, and increase energy security and sustainability. This is accomplished primarily through the promotion of alternative fuels and vehicles, integrated transportation systems, and conservation strategies and technologies that benefit the public interest by reducing energy consumption, particularly of petroleum based fuels.
Now Charging: Citizens Bank ⚡️
AmpUp is excited to bring EV charging to three Citizens offices across MA & RI!
The project is serving Citizens employees with reliable charging during their workday, as well as signaling a commitment to sustainability. A huge thanks to Cushman & Wakefield and EVSE LLC for making this one possible.
New Utility Vendor Approvals ✅
AmpUp is now an approved vendor for Eversource in Connecticut and Massachusetts. Eversource is one of the largest utilities in New England, offering electric, gas, and water services in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. Working with various state agencies, the utility is helping to bring 125,000 to 150,000 electric vehicles to Connecticut and 300,000 to Massachusetts by 2025. In Massachusetts, Eversource is making a $45 million investment in public-facing EV infrastructure, aiming to deploy 3,500 charging ports by the end of the year. Site hosts and property managers who benefit from these incentive programs can now select AmpUp as an EV network provider.
Likewise, we are also an approved vendor for San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E). SDG&E offers gas and electricity in San Diego County and southern Orange County in southwestern California. The utility is committed to sustainability and offers several EV incentive programs to encourage electric vehicle adoption and related infrastructure deployment. These new vendor approvals build on AmpUp’s existing qualifications with national leading programs at Pacific Gas & Electric, Southern California Edison, National Grid, NYSERDA, ConEdison, and many more.
Federal Government Electrification Initiatives 🇺🇸
An easy application process. Mandatory use of OCPP. Open EV networks. These are a few components we recommend in our recent comments to the Federal Highway Administration’s RFI on new EV charging programs. Read AmpUp’s comments to Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and Ms. Pollack.
Additionally, AmpUp submitted comments to the U.S. Departments of Energy and Transportation on Buy America requirements for domestic EV charger production. The U.S. Departments of Transportation and Energy requested public commentary to help shape programs funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal. Passed by Congress in early November 2021, this legislation addresses improvements and additions to American infrastructure, including roads, bridges, rail lines, drinking water, broadband, and clean energy efforts.
EV funding will be available through two programs. Under the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program, the Departments of Transportation and Energy will administer $5 billion to build a network of charging stations along the Interstate Highway System. Of this, $615 million will be made available in 2022. A separate competitive grant program will be developed later this year and will focus on bringing EV infrastructure to rural and underserved communities. States that wish to access NEVI Formula Program funding must submit deployment plans to the newly formed Joint Office of Energy and Transportation. AmpUp is reaching out to state transportation agencies to offer insight on best practices for EV infrastructure deployment, including the mandatory use of OCPP and open networks, which promote asset longevity, long-term financial savings, and consumer choice. Under these new programs and together with our hardware and installation partners, we’re ready to help build a national network of 500,000 chargers.
